Have you ever walked through a village where every wall tells a story?

This week, we visit Dozza, a small hilltop town in Emilia-Romagna where colorful murals cover the houses, turning the streets into a real open-air museum.

You’ll find two versions of the text written in Italian: an A2-level story for pre-intermediates and a more detailed B1 version for intermediate learners.

Dozza, il paese colorato

Dozza è un piccolo borgo in Emilia‑Romagna, vicino a Bologna. È famoso per i murales colorati che decorano le sue case. Ogni due anni, artisti da tutto il mondo arrivano qui per dipingere le pareti. Le strade sembrano una galleria d’arte!

Passeggiare per Dozza è tranquillo: ci sono fiori, silenzio e belle vedute sulle colline. Si può visitare una rocca antica e poi gustare un bicchiere di vino locale.

Un piatto tipico di questa zona sono i passatelli in brodo: sono fatti con pangrattato, uova, Parmigiano e un po’ di noce moscata. Si formano schiacciando l’impasto con uno strumento o uno schiacciapatate. Cotti nel brodo caldo, diventano una minestra semplice e molto saporita.

Dozza è un luogo dove arte, storia e sapori si incontrano.

Dozza: arte sui muri, storia tra le strade

Dozza è un piccolo borgo medievale dell’Emilia-Romagna, vicino a Bologna. È conosciuto per i murales che decorano le case: vere opere d’arte create direttamente sui muri del paese. Dal 1960, durante la Biennale del Muro Dipinto, artisti italiani e stranieri dipingono le facciate delle abitazioni, trasformando il borgo in un museo a cielo aperto.

Passeggiare per Dozza è un’esperienza unica: ogni strada racconta una storia. I murales sono colorati, creativi e spesso legati alla cultura locale. Alcuni mostrano volti, paesaggi o scene simboliche; altri sono astratti e moderni. L’arte si mescola perfettamente con l’architettura storica.

Oltre all’arte, Dozza offre anche la visita alla sua rocca sforzesca, una fortezza del XV secolo che oggi ospita un museo e una famosa enoteca regionale, dove si possono degustare vini locali.

Tra i piatti tipici della zona ci sono i passatelli in brodo: una minestra preparata con pangrattato, Parmigiano, uova e noce moscata. Si formano con uno strumento speciale e si cuociono nel brodo caldo. Sono semplici, ma dal sapore intenso e tradizionale.

Dozza è un luogo dove arte, storia e sapori convivono in armonia.
